How Is Asset/Portfolio Management Different From Property Management?
A definition for Asset/Portfolio Management can be a hard term to pin down. Often there is an overlap in the responsibilities of portfolio managers and property managers. The main difference is that Asset/Portfolio Managers act as a bridge between the realm of real estate and finance. Asset/Portfolio Managers focus on issues like capital structure, financial modeling, and high-level portfolio strategy in order to promote operational efficiencies. Property managers, on the other hand, tend to deal with more day-to-day operational issues, such as overseeing a properties maintenance and leasing activities.
